Weight Vest WooHOO!

Got my Weight vest on Wednesday, IT. IS. AWESOME.

Wore it to school today, took it off for most of school, but then went training afterwards, did a little with it on. But I really wanted to get my roundoff-backs down, which I did! They’re getting wayyyy better, I’m smashing them most times. But they get you so tired! So anyway, I walked around a bit with connor (who I was training with also) and wore it while walking, man it’s awesome to be able to condition while walking.

So anyway, finished up, went to work. Got home and did some light conditioning with it on:

4 sets of 20 squats
1 set of 20 Lunges (10 each leg) then 2 sets of 40 lunges (20 each leg)
100 calf raises

I also did little bounce/hop type things, just bouncing on my toes up and down.
Did 100 both feet, then 5 sets of 20 hopping.
This worked awesomly, it was basically just simulating 200 tiny landings and really worked by shins, arches, and knees (I could feel it working the small stabiliser muscles around the knee, especially the hopping ones).

So yeah, the weight vest is awesome, and a good investment. I can’t wait to do more training with it on the weekend. I might walk out to hall with it on (about 7kms) I would like to run there, but I don’t think I should be running with it on quite yet. I might give it a go and do some interval training, say, run 100 meters, walk 200 or so. I just want to build up to using the weight vest slowly and sensibly.

Epic training weekend

Ok so Sammy and Antek stayed at my place this weekend, we got some great training done.

Picked them up at around 8pm from the Bus station, Had dinner around 8.30, then we went training 😀 Trainined at my local spot, I finally got the cat to precision that I’d been looking at for months! I only got it one foot though, but still a good progression for me! We trained until around 11pm until security came around and we left. Then did some relaxed training for handstands until about midnight, they are much better at them than I, so they did some tucked planches and actual handstands, I worked on the strength for them by doing some ‘cheat’ tuck plances, working up to holding it for 60 secs. Anyway all in all it was a good nights worth of training.

Next morning got up around half eight. Mum and Dad had cooked us some epic breakfast of local bacon and home-laid, fresh eggs with some fresh Italian bread. It was awesome. Caught the bus into woden which for Antek, was horrible, as he gets bus sick! Should had thought about that before hand…Trained pretty well, a lot of it was watching the guys though 😛 They’ve just got such a great level of technical application. It’s inspiring. But yes, I finally got woden library wall run, I was the only one to get it which made me feel good in one way, but it would have been better if everyone had got it! Also got the Sdc->Sdb at the library, I was very happy with getting that. 😀
Trained there until about 1.30, grabbed some lunch then heded into belconnen around 2.30 to train at John Knight Park. My friends (who were having a birthday party there) kept bugging me to come so we all went. Got some good stuff done there, lots of rock precisions and other rock stuff. I hyperextended my ankle in a precision (landed too far on my toes, thus bending my ankle to far, I believe this is hyperextension, may be hyperflexsion though…). I had to take it a little slower, but it wasn’t too bad. Well we trained until I can’t remember, just before it got dark, grabbed some food, headed home then watched fight club…Awesome movie…
I slept like a baby that night.

We all woke up at like 9.50, which was partially bad considering we were meeting in civic at 10…Anyway we got up, Dad had squeezed some fresh orange juice so we had that and a bowel of cereal. Got into civic some time around 11ish, we were all pretty tired and exhausted, I did a few little things and trained consistently for a small while, but at a slow pace and doing slower things. Then stopped for a while and wactched the boys tackle a large arm jump.
I had to go to a Fathers Day BBQ at 1pm, so I said my goodbyes until next time, and headed off.

Got home tonight, stretched for about 1.5 hours, it was good, then worked on my handstand strength a bit more, I hit 60 seconds in the cheat tucked planche! I’m going to keep doing them until I can hold 60 seconds easy, then move onto real tucked planches. I was so stoked that I got it on my second night of trying, I guess it means some of the base strength is already established.

Well I learnt a fair bit over the weekend, saw some new stuff that I hadn’t seen done, it was reallly good to train with guys with a far greater skill level than myself, it really helps. But it wont hold me back not having them here all the time. I’ve gained quite a few goals from them being here and have progressed quite a bit.
Really happy with it all, can’t wait to go back up to Sydney.

Had a little bit of spare time in civic today so I had a short training session.

It was fairly consistent.
Worked on;
– Bigger take offs into vaults (off varying heights and distances over the hexagon bars, mainly a mental exercise)
– Standing catpasses to precisions.
– Running precisions
– Standing precisions.

That is all.

Woden solo training

Went to Woden and trained for 2 hours.

Started out at library working with the rails, under bars, did some arm jumps off them, practiced my level arm jumps for a while there. I Almost had the Library wall run to Balcony, so darn close I’m certain I can make it if I push hard enough.

Moved down to the arm Jump area, did the massive weird wall run there which was cool, then did the arm jump a few times. I had a really interesting time there and made a really big mental break through using the ‘fight or flight’ method. One of the first times it’s really worked for me, and it worked REALLY well.

Went to the next spot and tried the cat to arm with no luck, It’s small, but I just can’t commit. Oh well, all with time. Practiced my climb ups a lot here, spent a good 20 minutes on my climb ups, trying different techniques, seeing faster, easier ways etc. I want to do some more strength work for my upper body to get my climb ups quicker and cleaner.

From there I went and did some soft conditioning. This comprised of:
– 3 sets of 10 reverse pushups (done slowly)
– 6 laps of quadrupedal pushup things of about a 7 meter distance.
– 3 sets of 5 pistols each leg.
– 3 sets of 10 pushouts + 1 last set of 20 at the end.

Afterwards I went and stretched out, spent about half an hour on that. Was good.

It was a real mental progression today as well as physical. I mean last night I was drinking, and didn’t get to sleep until about 2am, so I was pretty darn tired. I was solo so I had to keep pushing myself, and it was pretty tiring work.
Like, the conditioning was pretty light, but after all the climbups I did it was tough.

I’m happy, got a few big things that I hadn’t before, I was really confident with myself and my skills/technique today.

Awesome training

Well me Chris, Trav and Jay went out training today from 4.30ish, it got dark quick, Unfortunately I had to leave at 6, but still some great training was had.
Found a new spot that Chris had trained at the night before, it was so awesome. Got some good training, esp. flow going on there, was loving it immensely. I then ran to the bus interchange which was great, I’m a lot fitter than I thought, but still pretty bad.

Tomorrow I plan on getting up at 6 and going in to the gym/pool to do some laps.

Today I was STRONG!

Well, got home from work, decided to do some strength work, tried finding some body weight exercise for the traps to no avail, then I realised  have a dumb bell in my new room 😀

Did 3 sets of 10 of upright rows. – I think I might have done these slightly wrong because I’ve got slight discomfort, approaching pain, in my right wrist. Will have to concentrate more next time.
Started doing shoulder shrugs but I must of been doing them wrong because they did nothing.

Then did 4 sets of 6 POWER CLEANS FUCK YEAHHHHH. with 34kg’s because I had no more weights xD
But that seemed to be the right weight anyway as I was maxing out at number 10.

then finished off with 3 sets of 10 raised pushups.

My grip hurts, my delts hurt, my traps hurt, I’m happy!

Training log

There is this great site that records all your training times, intensity, type, etc. etc. and then graphs it. I’m going to be using that also.
